QUALITIES OF A SADHU

Many people think, "Alright, we'll develop such things, equal vision, we'll give up our false pride, false ego, we'll give up all desires, we'll become sadhu"; if someone thinks like that and artificially tries to do like that, he cannot become sadhu. It is not artificial or he'll be a hypocrite, he tries to develop all these things in an artificial way, he'll become a hypocrite because in his heart, in his many so many material desires are there but outwardly posing as a sadhu-(Bg 3.6) karmendriyani samyamya ya aste manasa smaran indryartham vimu-dhatma mithyacarah sa uayate,he's a great hypocrite externally posing as a sadhu. He shows to the people, to the public, that he has controlled his mind, controlled his senses, but in the mind thinking how to get, how to get. They are great hypocrites, bhogyadharmika, once a cate became Vaisnava, put on tilaka, put on kanti mala, catched hold the danda, bead bag, chanting Hare Krsna, Cat Baba, the rats were afraid of cat, they said, "O, cat has become Vaisnava, Cat Baba, he said, "I never eat flesh, meat, no, I never kill anybody, I'm never envious of any living entity, I do no wrong to anybody, I've become a complete Vaisnava, I do bhajan". The rats became fearless, 'O, he is Vaisnava so he'll not eat us now", (laugh) but he's a great hypocrite. The rats fearlessly played before him, the cat saw a good opportunity now, yes, I can very easily catch them", (laugh), this is ...rabi Vaisnava, great hypocrites. Just posing outwardly as sadhus but in their heart, in their mind, so much material desires are there and it is very easy to becaome a sadhu, to become a sannyasi, people pay respect, sannyasi has come, it is our duty to serve them, give them best service, feed sadhu we'll get the mercy of the Supreme Lord, it's mentioned in Sastra", they open their inner apartment, "use, sadhu can go". But a hypocrite, "O, nice now, I am in the inner apartment, many girls came, offer obeisances, render some service, easy to catch them", yes, such hypocrites. It is not that one can artificially do like that. It is quite natural, if you do anukjulyena krsnanu silanam bhaktir uttama. If you serve the Supreme Lord favorably, that means, giving all pleasures, enjoyment to Supreme Lord, no desire for personal pleasure, enjoyment, in that mood if you do bhajan then automatically you shall receive, thereby one who develops unalloyed devotion, sattve pure...those who have developed unalloyed devotion, aikartika bhakti, it is automatic that all good qualities will develop, it's not that artificially you just try to acquire these qualities, that help you. tesam nitya mahabhava maha bhavesu mad katha sambhavarti...ham.
