Tattvas
Understanding the different "Tattvas"
Tattva is a Sanskrit word meaning 'thatness', 'principle', 'reality' or 'truth.
According to various Indian schools of philosophy, a tattva is an element or aspect of reality.
Although the number of tattvas varies depending on the philosophical school, together they are thought to form the basis of all our experience.
In Vaishnava Puranic literature's and general Vaishnava philosophy tattva is often used to denote certain categories or types of being or energies such as :
1 - Krishna-tattva (100% of full qualities)
The Supreme personality of Godhead. The causative factor of everything including other Tattva(s).
2 Vishnu-tattva (93% of Krishna's quantities)
Any direct incarnation or expansion of Krishna.
3 - Sakti-Tattva 93% of Krishna's quantities.
The multifarious energies of the Lord Krishna. It includes his internal potency Yoga Maya and material prakrti
4 - Jiva-tattva (78% of Krishna quantities)
The living souls (jivas).
5 - Siva-tattva (84% of Krishna's quantities)
Lord Siva (excluding the Rudra(s)) is not considered to be a jiva.
6 - Mahat-tattva
The total material energy (prakrti).
