Vyasa-Puja Offering to Srila Prabhupada
His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada- The Spiritual Master of the Hare Krsna Movement
Srila Prabhupada began his movement in the western world simply by chanting the Maha mantra: Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the great apostle of love of God who appeared in India some five hundred years ago, desired that the benedidiction of the Holy name of God be bestowed upon all living entities, and He predicted that one day the chanting of these Holy names would be heared in every village and town of the world. It was Srila Prabhupada who established a worldwide movement- The Hare Krsna Movement- to fulfill Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s prediction and desire.Throughout his life Srila Prabhupada prepared Himself for his great mission, and from his arrival in America on September 18,1965 to his passing on November 14,1977- through some seventy books and thousands of letters, interviews, and lectures- he gave the world the holy name of Krsna and the Vedic Science of self realization. Whenever Srila Prabhupada went on fourteen journey around the globe, he constantly spread the chanting of the Hare Krsna mantra, and when he finally departed he was surrounded by loving disciples from around the world, loudely yet sweetly chanting these names of God he had given them. He began his movement by chanting “Hare Krsna” and when he left; “Hare Krsna” were the last words he spoke. This was Srila Prabhupada’s mission: Let the chanting of Lord Krsna’s Holy name be glorified! No one can find the limits of the glories of these holy names carried around the world by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. Whenever he could detect within a person a willingness to engage in the service of Krsna, that pleased him more than anything else. He would simply look for that quality in each person, no matter how hidden it was.If he saw even the slightest spark in anyone, Srila Prabhupada would be pleased .In fact, Srila Prabhupada’s greatness was such that even if a person had practically no Krsna consciousness, somehow Srila Prabhupada would engage him in service to Krsna, or atleast make him favourable to the Krsna consciousness movement. Actually Srila Prabhupada manifested all the qualities of the eternal associates of Krsna. His humor was completely sublime, his compassion was sublime and transcendental. Courage, competitiveness- all the qualities we read about in Krsna and Nectar of Devotion were manifested in Srila Prabhupada. He was the living embodiment of Krsna – Krsna’s representatives. We learned about Krsna by seeing Srila Prabhupada .And we learned to believe in Krsna by seeing Prabhupada, because we could see that here was a person who had actually come from the spiritual world to be among us. His instructions, of course are given in his books. But last instructions he gave to all of his disciples: Now that this movement has attained a prestigious, respected position all over the world, now that our institutions throughout the world are substantial and we are well represented everywhere – now please maintain this. Do not let it deteriorate of decrease. We don’t feel that Srila Prabhupada has died. If we felt that way, we could not bear to live. We regret the loss of his physical presence but we are consoled by his eternal presence in the form of his instructions and therefore we are very hopefull that the orders he has established will continue to exist for thousands of years to come. He will stay with us eternally if we follows his instructions. As long as all of his disciples constantly look to his instructions and remain faithful, there will not be any chaos. But if they look away from or neglect the teachings of their Spiritual Master, or if they fail to follow them, then there will be chaos. In just a dozen of years His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada gave the world a legacy that will last forever. “I will never die. I will live forever in my books.” (Srila Prabhupada)SO…..He lives forever by his divine instructions, and the followers lives with him. Bhaktivedanta thakura also wrote a short stanza about the influence that a Vaisnava (a pure devotee of the Supreme Lord Krsna) carries in this world even after his passing: He reasons ill who tells that Vaisnava die When thou art living still in sound! The vaisnavas die to live,And living try to spread the holy name around! ALL GLORIES TO SRILA PRABHUPADA…..!
